Fishing Clubs

Fishing Clubs are an integral way to meet new people and learn about new techniques.  Chances are there are folks that share the same enthusiasm and passion about fishing, whether it be species specific or multi species.

Club Memberships.

Northern Illinois Walleye Club is great small club, with lots of big fisherman and big ideas.  The sponsor a kids clinic every year, and have many on water events.  Some of them include Mississippi River and Illinois River outings.  Including myself, the club typically has 6 to 8 participants in the FLW Leagues and Tour events.  This is a species specific clue, and we spend a great deal of time promoting walleye fishing, fishing values, and a opportunity to see how the beginner pro gets started.

Club meets 2nd Tuesday of the Month in Dekalk at the the American Legion hall.  Contact me at M_komo@hotmail.com or rob.gilligan@sbcglobal.net

Riverside Fishing Club is a multi species club. With members that fish great lakes salmon, bass, walleye, panfish and muskie, the club focuses on creating a knowledge sharing environment.  Membership dues are reasonable, with a speaker and dinner provided at each meeting.  Cash bar available.  2nd Thursday of each month at the American Legion Hall off Lagrange Road and Plainfield 7 to 9PM. Contact me for more information.  Kids are very welcome, as this is a great event for me and my 6 yo. www.riversidefishingclub.com

Fishermans Road Fishing Club is another multi species club from Malone, WI on the shores of Lake Winnebago.  Yearly members only tournaments.

Sheboygan Walleye Club is a species specific club.  With over 100  members, they host a NTC Cabelas qualifying event.  At least 3 members only tournaments per year on Lake Winnebago and Winnebago Chain of Lakes system

Get the most out of your clubs by taking an active participation approach.

1.  Volunteer to lead an effort.  Kids clinics, welcoming new members, organizing club events are just a few places to be involved.

2. Share the knowledge.  Dont be afraid to discuss techniques, presentations and fishing locations.  This is a club.  Members are expected to share knowledge.  Do your part.

3. Volunteer to lead to a discussion. This is a great way to get some experience discussing the the presentations and techniques that work for you.  Speaker skills are developed here.

4.  Do you part to drive membership.  If you are happy with the club, and want to be an integral part, promote the club when you can.

5.  Fellowship.  All members of the club are focused on a few keys things. Learning more about fishing, and developing new techniques for the hot bite.
